Awards

The school worked in partnership with ASD Info Wales to complete training which has improved our knowledge and understanding of The Autistic Spectrum Disorder.   The school successfully completed the necessary training and implemented the use of recommended resources throughout the school, which means that we are an accredited Learning with Autism                                                               School; we are only the 5th school in Torfaen to achieve this accreditation                                                               to date.

Our Criw-Cymreig actively lead the school community in promoting the language charter to inspire our children and young people to use Welsh in all aspects of their lives.  We were delighted to be one of the first schools to receive the ‘Gwobr Efydd,’ the Bronze Award. We achieved the ‘Gwobr Arian,’ the Silver Award in Summer 2022 and are now one of only two schools trialling the new 'Gwobr Aur,' accreditation, the Gold Award.

 

 

 

The Eco-committee and the entire school have worked hard to make our school a green, environmentally friendly school where our pupils have a good understanding and respect of environmental issues.  Our most recent award was of the Green flag; we are now striving to achieve the Platinum Award

 

 

Our School Council members work with pupils, teachers, parents and a range of partners to improve the health of whole school communities. Our primary aim is to support schools to develop a whole school approach to health through its work in 7 key areas: Food and Fitness, Mental and Emotional Health and Well-being, Personal Development and Relationships, Environment, Substance use and misuse, Safety and Hygiene.  We were recently awarded the local Phase 6 Award.                                                    We are currently working towards the National Quality Award which is the highest                                                   award that you can achieve

        The Basic Skills Quality mark recognises that schools have met the required                    standard in the teaching of basic Numeracy and Literacy skills.
